There are just some events that are better when experienced with friends. The 13th Cookies and Cocktails event scheduled for August 16 at Camp Trivera, 2508 NE 50th, is one of those events.
The night features one-of-a-kind sweet and savory bites and drinks inspired by Girl Scout Cookies. With more than 20 local restaurants and bars bringing their culinary and mixology talents, the event should be one to remember.
“Each year the chefs and bars outdo themselves with bites and drinks that are distinctive, imaginative and delicious,“ said Candice Hillenbrand, Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma chief development officer. “When participants bring a friend they get to be a part of this unique event together, creating a shared experience and a treasured memory. We are grateful to the many bars, restaurants and corporate sponsors who support this event.”
A cash prize of $1,000 goes to the People’s Choice Award Winner.
New for this year’s event is a German-style Cookies & Cocktails beer using Girl Scout Lemon-Ups cookies brewed by American Solera, the exclusive beer and wine vendor of the event. In addition, there will be music and other fun activities guaranteed to liven up the night. Guests must be 21 to attend.
Proceeds from Cookies and Cocktails benefit Girl Scouts programming and highest awards. To be awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold award in Girl Scouts, girls must identify an issue, make a plan and take action. There is a tremendous amount of sweat equity that goes into each project as the girls create lasting solutions to problems in their communities.
Event Co-chairs, Lindsey McCarty, a Silver Award holder, and Emma Tucker, say it is their privilege to support an organization that inspires and empowers young women to reach their full potential.
“The impact the organization made on my life is profound, with many of my values and interests as an adult rooted in the experiences I gained through my years as a scout. The fact that Cookies & Cocktails takes place at a state-of-the-art STEM venue for girls amplifies the significance of being involved,” said McCarty.
“Over the last five years, I’ve been in awe of what Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma has accomplished. Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma is a force to be reckoned with,” said Tucker.
The growing list of sponsors for this year’s event includes 20 restaurants, restaurant groups and food & beverage distributors. Sponsorships are still available.
